A question re the Class 158...is the present large toilet adequate for PRM-TSI, or will a new module need fitting? If the latter, what layouts are proposed?

The present toilet needs some modifications to meet the TSI, but does not need replacing, so this is what is being done. It shows what an exceptionally good design the 158 interior was when built.

ATW's 158 refurb appears to be replacing components but not the module itself. I do wonder if they've actually tested this with the 'reference' wheelchairs however, since, the door width and spacing within the existing loo wasn't necessarily the best on those units and did cause difficulties for people.

There's a post on ATW's news desk site which has a couple of pictures - in essence it shows a new pan, PRM standard buttons and possibly new flooring. It looks suspiciously like it was done on the cheap, but, given the fact a very quick turnaround is needed can you really blame them?

The 158s are, and have been for years, being PRM modified as set out by the DfT
158s already have Disabled toilets but these need to be modified to meet the 1/1/2020 requirements
