Hello,
The reason I am asking about 158 fuel range is because I saw 158708 come into Inverness having worked the 1437 from Kyle. 708 then having joined up with 705 worked the 1754 Wick/Kyle train, going on alone from Dingwall once again to Kyle.
She will work the 0620 back to Inverness on Saturday.
So that's four trips down the Kyle line. No chance to fuel up at Kyle end and from the brief journey out the station to join up with 705 I be surprised if any refuelling was done at Inverness.
My approx adding up of the distances makes it 332 miles covered.
I tried looking on the Internet for 158 engine fuel capacity but didn't find much. Did read that roughly 1 Litre is used per engine per Mile.
Also said might change depending on terrain.
Guessing the figure could be higher for the hilly sections of the Kyle line.
What's the maximum range of a Scotrail 158 and what's the basic fuel consumption.
