Class 156 and 158 retirements

When the class 156 and 158 sprinters get retired from small regional lines like the bishop line and ofher lines like the tees valley line will they be replaced by trains like 195s and turbostars first before the battery-electric units?

I'm not aware of any solid plans yet, so far most of the discussion has been on this thread in the speculation section about the whole of Northern (the North East side is included within that):

Northern New Fleet and Cascade allocations (speculation).

I figured this needed its own thread. Will the North East get more 158s or the new MMUs? They have said new trains would arrive in the North East by 2030/31. That’s an email I got back from them with regards this question in May. Why would the North East need the MMU's quite early on...
