Class 156 376

Hi,
New to this forum. I saw a train today at Barnham station in Sussex. It wasn't in the station but the other side of the platform where maintenance trains etc are. It was a Class 156 376. I looked it up in my Rail Guide book but I couldn't find it anywhere, nor other 156/3s, although there were a few 156/4s. Does anyone have any information on this train?

Could it have been 153 376?

It's 153376, not 156376.

It's a class 153 converted into an infrastructure monitoring unit. Prior to that since 153 conversion it was a Central Trains/East Midlands Trains unit for it's entire passenger service life.

It was on the Hertford East branch yesterday after the massive problems caused by an issue at a level crossing

Is there a reason it's blue and rather than the usual full yellow?

It's part of the engineer department now, why blue I cannot answer. Presumably they didn't want the entire just pure yellow?
