According to Northern Rail's Twitter feed "GMPTE Metro are accepting tickets between Manchester and Rochdale"

That time machine worked!

The guard on my train has advised that the situation has been resolved and that the train will be operating through to Manchester after all.

That is not good. That's 2x150 and now a 155 out of action since Saturday, and Northern is already critically short of units.

Yes when i left on the replacement bus, the orange army were crawling over the 155. Presumably it has been dragged or under it own power. Although when i got to Manchester every was still getting on the Metrolink towards Rochdale. Safe to say that 3 trams went past me all of them were full with people standing.

No it will not be good for them. I can see a few services being cancelled tomorrow, unless they get the 155 fixed of course.

I doubt they`ll be many cancellations due to shortage of units but instead a lot of 2 car workings on 4 car diagrams.

Smithy Bridge station has a gated road level crossing next to the station. Was any road traffic using that crossing affected?

From what I understand of it the barriers remained down until the driver phoned up the signaler and let him know of the situation. The barriers were then raised.

The train didn't pass the signal protecting the crossing so it could have been kept open for traffic all that time.

That depends if it was non stopping or not if it was not stopping the barriers would go down before it had reached that point. If it was stopping then no it would not go down.

Whats happened to the Northern 150s then?

2 150s derailed near Harrogate.
I will try and find the link when I get home.

It has nothing to do with whether it was stopper or not. Question was about the crossing barriers being able to function as normal which they were as the train stopped before protecting signal.
