Why do 153s have a 'centre hinge' on their Gangway Door Covers? :-?

Do they open differently to other Sprinters or something?

Is it because on a 153 the cabs are different sizes and on the no2 cab it folds in half to fit the gap (as no2 cab is much smaller than no1 cab)..... Thats only a guess, I cant remember without actually being in one.... Although it must be something to do with that as they are only hinged at the no2 end.....

In the cab with the paper
When units are operating in multiple and the gangway is in use, the gangway door and flyscreen acts to block access to the secondman's side of the cab. On Cl317's, the door itself only reaches to the end of the secondman's desk so the flyscreen is needed to block access. I would imagine that Cl153's have hinged flyscreens at one end because the cab is much smaller, which would require it to be folded in half.

However, I can't be definite about this as I've only ever driven a Cl153 briefly on a low adhesion driving course last autumn, and only then from the large cab.

You are correct, have had a look when last one one, they are indeed only hinged number two end for the reason mentioned.
