2+4 GWR HST's currently being converted for service between Penzance - Bristol/Cardiff which will be in service later in the year.

Wrong type of Castles I'm afraid. The proper Mk3 'Castle Class' were the NI Railways 450 Class Thumpers. They were built using a Mk3 Suburban unit body shell atop a Mk1 Chassis recycled from the former 70 Class Thumpers.

Dates I have been given for GWR 150/1 transfers to Northern:-

3/2:- 150101/4/6/8/23/28 & 29.
17/2:- 150120.
3/3:- 150121.
17/3:- 150127.
31/3:- 150130.
14/4:- 150131.

Do you know about 150125 (925) and 150126 (926) ?

Since the demise of Central I have to say I miss the 150's. 153's and 156's are poor by comparison.
150/1's have a much better cab view and are draught free, and the class in general has a much better door layout for the frequent stops and heavy usage on the Robin Hood line (peak times and weekends) I'd still take a 170 over any Sprinter though, despite being slower off the mark.

Wow, 7 going on the 3 February. As much as I strongly dislike them, it will be a bit of a struggle without them I should expect with unit shortage problems coming in.

Blimey - it doesn't seem that long since the 150/1's were first unleashed on the world - 20 January 1986 on routes based on Derby as I recall.

Personally, I've never particularly liked them, mainly due to the woeful seating arrangement as originally configured.

Not in this case. It refers to the Northern Ireland Castle Class DEMUs (450 Class).

Class 255? Further confirmation that HSTs are multiple units, rather than locos and coaching stock.
You tell me how many HST sets can work in multiple.

Easiest just to call them HSTs and accept they are different - and superior - to everything else. But the spotters’ need to pigeon hole everything into neat, pre-determined boxes means this will fuse some brains...

Here was me thinking it was BR that issued the HSTs with Coaching Stock numbers, but no. We now find out it's the spotters...

As a percentage, can you tell us when services have ran with only 1 power car in the formation, and not 2 in multiple with each other?

A powercar is an MLV on steroids :p

Anyone saying that a 143 is better than a 150/1 is either physically a midget, or deliberately planning journeys to avoid the Pacer. I used to be delighted when I saw one coming into Central when going home, as it had heating that wasn't so pityful that any heat generated wasn't immediately ejected at every single station! They have more seats that don't require me to dislocate a knee to use and not buy an additional ticket! Huzzah!

Oh, and the windows don't burst open when going through Dawlish in a stiff breeze.

The only genuine benefit the Pacer has is the large space at either end for bikes, pushchairs and suitcases.

Although not a 150/1 topic what's the current position with the prototypes 150/0. Are they coming north?

They have been refurbished, they didn’t need any sole bar repairs as unlike the others they were built with 8mm thick solebar

143's to me are okay and will take one over a 150/1 anyday. I've travelled on both of them enough to discover which unit is better out of the two. A 143 feels nothing like a 150/1.
