Not sure about any restrictions, but I often see a few on the London end platforms.

I'm struggling to remember the last time I passed through there on a Saturday without spotters at the ends of the platforms. You should be fine.

I've heard its very busy, I'm looking forward to it, any tips as to which is the best area or is it wise to just wander about, is it easy to access various platforms

It depends what you're after, the extensions at the London end of platforms 5&6 are good for SWT stuff and the yard, you can see southern too but expect SWT to park in the way. I believe the London end of platforms 11&12 can be good too.

In a week day, Stuff will start moving into the yard between 8-11. Should start coming out again between 14:00 - 17:00. Get there for rush hour if you can.

Trains on the SWT main suburban ( 455's platforms 10/11 ) will start repeating after 26 minutes. The Windsor side ( platform 5/6) after 32 and the main line stuff south to Weymouth - Exeter- Portsmouth etc ( platform 9 ) after 46 min if I remember right. So after this, just worry about stuff heading into London. I can't speak for GTR / London Overground as I've no idea

Anyone know why the Exeters leave Waterloo 5 mins earlier on Sunday afternoons? Cost me an hour's delay at Clapham Jcn, changing from the Southern side, expecting a xx.27 when in fact it was xx.22 on Sunday.

Keeping up with the units is quite hard. I'd recommend going to the London end of the platform for the best views. If you're getting numbers, to get all you'll probably need a camera with a good lens or binoculars. Does anybody know if that 47 is still in the yard?

London end of platform 11/12 is best

I've seen some people on here say they often bring a tape recorder to say the unit numbers and then go through that tape later to note it all down. As they come thick and fast its often easier to do it that way. But thats for the hardcore who want everything at once. You'll probably find it easier to take the Windsor, SWML and Southern Sections separately. Saves rushing and you can enjoy it a bit more.

Good idea, also either binoculars or a long lens also helps for the London Overground trains on platforms 1 & 2.

Thanks for that reminder; I wondered what was going on at Woking. Well, there is a supplementary query - but this is well OT, sorry. I'll open a new thread so anyone who knows about this can inform us.
