I know that platform 15 at Clapham Junction was extended in 2013 from 8 to 10 cars, but from looking at it, it seems like it was extended in the past too. An old cab ride and some old photos from the 80s confirm that it used to be even shorter (maybe 6 cars?).
Does anyone know what year it was extended? I'm guessing 1990s sometime, as Google Earth shows it at the 8 car length in 2002.
I think (not certain) that it was eight cars previously but that the starting signal was moved a little towards Victoria to provide better junction protection (my class 33 shot shows it in its old position), thus requiring the London end extension. My departing 4SUB photo from 1977 shows no extension. The eastbound starters for p16 and 17 were also moved east, allowing the platform extension. I would guess it was built about 1984.

Ah interesting! Yeah that makes a lot of sense really. It is quite a tight junction at the south west end. What date was that 33 photo taken? The Flickr link below seems to just take me to your gallery page (which by the way is awesome. I have enjoyed many of your photos while researching a project I'm working on).
This is the cab ride I mentioned. Dated (in the comments) to around 1987/88. So I think you might not be right about 1984, but I guess it wasn't too long after that?
An extension to Platform 15, and the signal moves mentioned in post #2, were described in a yellow signalling notice (no. 2 SCD-1993), which had an effective date of 19th September 1993.

Afraid not. Down slow (15) was as said above 8 car length, the rear van of an 8 Sub was only a few yards on the platform (15) at London end. That's how it remained until after closure of B signal box (Nov 1980), and likewise p16 & p17 were not extended within that time span, nor until after late 1986 at least (by my own photo'), one of which I attach here. The sidings on which the BG is sitting are Pigs Hill sidings, the view facing the station from behind B box. To the left of the BG can be seen a platform face (original), that is the Up Local, p14. The more recent extension to p15 (London end) obscured the view as per attached, so was not there at the time I took this. Sorry!

PS: in that video clip above, the extension seen on left at the start, is at the London end of platform 13, the Down Through line, and that, IIRC, was an earlier change, but will stand corrected. The train from which the cab ride was filmed having just departed from p14.
