Clapham Jct and Waterloo, advice needed!

Hey guys, seriously considering travelling up to London Waterloo on Tuesday but I need a few bits of advice lol..

1: Is it OK for me to get off at Clapham Junction, wait about an hour, then continue to Waterloo on the same ticket?
2: Am I free to spot/take pics at Clapham Junction, or should I at least tell a member of staff there what I'm doing, or even forget about being there completely?
3: Is Waterloo East connected to the main Waterloo station, or do I have to go through ticket barriers to get on East's platform.
4: Is there any yards or big depots east of Basingstoke on the Waterloo line that I might spot?
5: Specifically what resides at Stewarts Lane depot?

And [stn]EXD[/stn] to [stn]WAT[/stn] CDR has a validty code of US this does not mention any restriction on break of journey and as NRE tell us:

You may start, break and resume, or end your journey at any intermediate station along the route of travel on Off-Peak tickets unless the ticket restriction for the journey you are making does not allow it.

Therefore I would say that you are perfectly entitled to break your journey at Clapham Junction before continuing on to Waterloo.

A ticket of unknown type from an unknown origin is highly likely to permit break of journey - if that's what you are asking! - though you don't specify what you are doing in that hour, so I don't know if you are proposing a break of journey (which only occurs if a station is exited) or not.

Anyway I see from your follow-up post that it's an Off Peak Day Return (CDR) so that should be fine.

Yes it is.

Not from the main concourse, though the Southwark entrance/exit (which one member of staff denies is an entrance/exit - but that's another story) is barriered, along with a side entrance/exit also being barriered.

Waterloo East station is not a CTA (though one member of staff claims it is; he is incorrect), and you cannot buy platform tickets (there is a sign telling you to obtain tickets from the main ticket office, but a polite request there has been known to get a curt response of "it's nothing to do with us!").

SWT's entire diesel fleet of 158s and 159s is based at Salisbury.

442s. The 460s might still live there (I'm not sure) but they aren't in service much (if at all) any more.

While it is correct that there is no barrier line on the link to Waterloo East, you do have to pass through a barrier line at Waterloo in order to get out of the platform and on to the concourse in order to access the link in the first place.

This is probably too late for the OP, but regarding getting into Waterloo East, your outward ticket to London Terminals should be given back by the gateline as it is valid to Charing Cross via Waterloo East. If Waterloo East revenue staff ask (and they usually don't) just mention going to Charing Cross. Indeed once you are there you might as well visit Charing Cross and London Bridge...

[AIUI this is irrespective of what the routeing guide shows, they just can't be bothered to distinguish between individual origins, probably because 'London Terminals' is such a grey area.]
