Sorry to hijack this a bit but I cant find an answer to this on any other thread. Last friday I travelled, from Newhaven Town to Bedford, but because of power lines down north of London and the earlier flooding problems in the Balcome tunnel, I could not get the scheduled connections to get to Bedford. Having left Newhaven at 16:05 I ended up getting to Bedford at 20:45. If things had run to schedule I would have got to Bedford at 18:55 - so I was well over an hour late. Which operator can I claim delay compensation from, if at all?

In this situation I would claim from the operator that you would be travelling with for the bulk of the delayed part of the journey. In this case, it would probably be best to lodge a Delay Repay claim with FCC.

You'll need to scan the original ticket and upload it :) If the ticket is of significant value, they may request you post the original (although I've never seen that happen personally)

I agree with Mike, though to give a definitive answer we'd really need to compare the planned itinerary with the actual timings?

Depending on the extent of the delay in the Balcombe tunnel area, and whose train you were on at that time, the answer may be different.
