Misgivings appear to be expressed re' the suitability of this line for incorporation into Glasgow Crossrail. I accept that a speed limit of 15mph may constrain certain train movements. But were a (somewhat spread-out) station to be sited between King St & Bridgegate, reutilising the severed bridge abutments, then all traffic entering and leaving this area would be slow moving anyway. If (say) 75% of Central Stn & Queen St continued to terminate as at present then only a select fraction need operate via C/U/L's eastern detour.

The key question regarding the City Union is why, and what, trains should be diverted away from the existing city centre terminals to serve instead a remote station in the east end? I cannot see any way that the numbers benefitting would in any way justify the inconvenience to the great majority of passengers. Surely (another) classic case of a solution looking for a problem.

I suppose it might be of great benefit as a sticking plaster so the lines down south and up north maybe could get better frequencies - link to the subway nearby and it might be of use.
