Evening,
Later in the year I will be needing to make numerous journeys between various places within Cambridgeshire, over the course of a week. Doing this by train would be preferable to by car, subject to costs being reasonable.
Some online searching, specifically the www.nationalrail.co.uk "Season Ticket Calculator" tool, has found a Peterborough to Royston week long season ticket at a price of £130.90, with the only stated travel restriction "not valid for travel via (changing trains or passing through) London Terminals".. Can any members here confirm whether this ticket would be valid for an unlimited number of journeys, at any time of day on any of the 7 days of validity, between any stations on the routes Peterborough - March - Ely - Cambridge - Royston - Hitchin - Huntingdon - Peterborough inclusive?
Subject to the answer to the above question being "yes", I believe I am correct in saying that if making a journey from, say, Cambridge to Hitchin, the train used would need to call at Royston. This would not be an issue as I believe most if not all trains serving Cambridge and Hitchin do call at Royston, but if my belief here is incorrect then clarification would be appreciated.
A final question I also have, given that a very limited number of journey opportunities between Peterborough and Stevenage exist in both directions using non-stop LNER services, would this ticket permit travel to and/or from Stevenage to then "double back on to route" at Hitchin?
NB: I have also found, using the same search tool, another week long season ticket between Peterborough and Royston priced at £105.60, however this is stated to have the restriction "valid only on Great Northern and Thameslink services" thus rendering it of no use to me, as some travel via March and Ely will undoubtedly be required.
Any replies / advice / input would be very welcome.
