Went out to Ashford (Kent) today visiting a footbridge near Chart Leacon depot and an occupational crossing near the village of Great Chart.

Got pics of:

37604, 1497, 3905, 73109 + 73235 l/e at Chart Leacon
73235 + 1497 + 73109 at Great Chart

Pics @ http://craigrailpics.fotopic.net/c1307326.html

When 37604 returned through Ashford I got a video (crap quality) which can be found here

Enjoy and comments welcome.

The two slammers at Chart Leacon have been retained by Bombardier and not Southern They are also VOPs and not CIGs. The two units are being used as tractor units as can be seen in this shot where the VOP is hauling part of 460004.

Glad you like my pics.

How does this work? Have the Slammers been fitted with Tightlocks, or is there a contaption that allows a Buckeye to couple to tightlock?

Karl :)

There are probably tightlock or Dellner couplers that fit over the buckeye.

I've seen one of the Hastings DEMU powercars with a Dellner coupler on during Feb 2005 when there was heavy snowfall. The DEMU was on stanby as a 4 car set for the Southern 377s and South Eastern 375s in the Hastings area. It didn't need to rescue anything though but it make a run from Hastings - Eastbourne with the Dellner applied.

So much decent traction in one photo!

You will unlikely ever see this kind of shot at Chart Leacon ever again. I quite like it too.

One thing that got me was that there was more SWT liveried vehicles in the shot than any other thing and SWT don't even run services down to Ashford (Kent).

Thanks for all the other comments guys.

Fred

Thanks. I could do with the times of the 455 moves from Chart Leacon to Wimbledon so please PM them to me.

Do you have binoculars, I can't see a 455?

The 455 is a refurbished one and can be seen behind the lampost or infront of the shed at Chart Leacon.
