I suspect that aircrew don't get extra for working Christmas Day....

I worked for 40 years in a power station. Christmas Day was just the same as any other day. If Christmas Day fell on your shift rota to work, you did. Nature of the job. No complaints.

Note: It was probably the best day of the year to work. No bosses or office staff...

Probably wander round and look at the bus stop timetables for non-existent night buses.
