Christmas and New Year 2014

I also noticed only newer films are shown at Christmas minus some classics and it's not just Disney. Think of all the channels that could show them.

My Christmas went as planned except my sister and her boyfriend had seconds at his Mum's place in Lindsey before and got full fast.
I made my secret recipe Rocky Road for them aswell!

Boxing Day may be busy for many trying to get cheap stuff.
I may go out as my Megarider bus ticket got 2 more days than usual despite my number 4 Simplibus running on Boxing Day.
A free day!!

Now that's Christmas is over, how did it go for you all?

Maybe it is a sign I am getting old (at 25, maybe before time?), but I'm just glad to have a few days off work to be honest. Finished on 23rd Dec and the production is shut down until the 5th Jan. It has been a very busy year and it is nice to also go back to not having a pile of emails to go through, as no-one else is there either (the only ones I should be getting are automated ones from the computer systems, but they are to just all drop into a folder )

Over the coming days - no real plans for tomorrow and Saturday. Out with friends on the railway on Sunday and again all day Tuesday and then another break before spending New Years Eve between home with family and at a friends place, so it should be nice.

I'm sure there will be plenty of RUK surfing in the meantime, too :P

Now that's Christmas is over, how did it go for you all?
I hope things went better than expected.

It went exactly as expected with me reaping the rewards at the end of January. Mighty glad it's the weekend and I can sleep in

I'm not th biggest fan of Christmas and all associated 'tat'. Making Christmas happen at work has led to some very long weeks recently so two days of sleep are in order ready for an early on on the 27th Dec. There may be a bit of nervous phone-watching as well with major engineering work on ECML South ... Months of planning ride on the next four days

Christmas was a fairly quiet one for me. I worked Christmas Eve, I work in retail too so you can imagine it was a fairly stressful few days leading up to Christmas.

I spent Christmas Day at home, had a game of Monopoly, watched the Big Bang Theory and for once didn't eat too much at dinner! Santa bought me a new DSLR camera for Christmas so I went out to Toton Yard on Boxing Day to give it a try. Then went out again yesterday to Langly Mill Station to take some photos in the snow.

I'm back at work tomorrow, I'm actually looking forward to it because I've been getting board out of my mind sitting around at home!

Overall 2014 was a great year for me - getting promoted, building a successful layout and exhibiting it at the Etches Park open day were just some of the highlights. I'm looking forward to 2015 - another potential promotion and building a new layout are just some of the things I have to look forward to this new year.

Like others just nice to have a few days off, well a couple of weeks actually such is the Christmas holiday nowadays. I'm not a big fan of Christmas and less so of new year, our family policy is only to buy presents for kids, it seems totally pointless to buy presents for adults that they could buy for themselves if they really wanted them although charity shops stand to benefit from all the unwanted presents.

I'll be glad to see the back of 2014, to be perfectly honest. It has been one of the worst years of my life and as a direct result of this, I have developed a severe case of depression.

Despite this, I'm trying to keep an open mind about 2015.

2015 has the poteuntial to be better or worse substantially. And it all depends on the election result. 2014 hasn't been good for my town at all. The libraries and leisure centre are at risk of being cut. Bin collections may be charged next year. Many shops have closed, namely Dreams, Homebase, Starbucks, Pooleys, Mothercare, Early Learning, a Greggs, a EE, Phone4U, 2 shoe shops, a carpet shop and many others. I get depressed walking past empty shops on Freeman St and Pasture St.

But I've found that an optimistic view about how things could be has helped me become happy. Star Trek's portayal of the future where there's no money and everything's done to improve life is how it will be eventually. I try to be a positive influence out and about in town whenever I can, and it is a reward in itself.

Time for New Year's Resolutions.

Mine is trying not to get angry when there's:
Cyclists on the pavement where there's a bike lane.
Smokers in bus stop or rail station.
Driver's not indicating and ignoring Highway Code.
Getting nuisance calls.
This is because it may make me stressed.

Oh dear is about it!

Warmed up leftovers from Christmas dinner out of the way on Boxing Day then straight into a string of conference calls and hours of frantic typing, followed by what can only be described as almost two weeks of non-stop work. Having finally made it back into the office this week there has been a rather large report to write on the whole lot!

Mind you, it was nice to be out and about making things happen, rather than sitting behind a desk
