Anyone travelled on the hourly Chorley diagrams yet? I was wondering how they fare in terms of busyness and unit strengthening..

15:54 left Chorley today with 14 people on board.

I counted them (sad, i know).

I wonder how many passengers that would normally use Chorley are using Leyland instead & using the service via Wigan North Western?

Was that just a single unit or a 4 or 6 car DMU?

6 car.

However, the rear unit is locked out of use until Horwich Parkway.

My cousin has started to travel from Euxton Balshaw Lane and a very close friend of mine now travels from Hindley.

My cousin benefits from the 10:04 TPE from Euxton to Manchester Oxford Road which they now stop during the blockade.

Trouble is now also it's the kids holidays and the bulk of families will be Blackpool headed which they can't reach. I'm sure the Chorley shuttle must fill up by Bolton but sounds like 4 car would be adequate then they could use the spare to strengthen services to the seaside

Serious problems at Preston tonight for anyone going back to Euxton BL.

1630 ex Preston cancelled (no proper reason announced)
1730 ex Preston cancelled (unit failed between Kirkham and Salwick)
1830 ex Preston 15 min late

I tried to get the 1730 back to Leyland.

The 1725 York train came and went ok which stops at Lostock Hall. At 1725 the boards were showing the 1730 as on time

I live 25 min walk from Leyland and 35 min from Lostock Hall ie between the two...could have been home 1.25 hours earlier had I got the 1725....:(

Frustrating end to a North West Rover day...I'll post another topic on that...

I was on the same platform as you then! The 1837 Leeds made extra calls at Lostock Hall and Bamber Bridge according to the announcements, though only the former was shown on the board on p4. The 1800 Colne was cancelled (and I think came in on the back of the Liverpool service, perhaps powering it?) so that will be why.

Yes. When the 1730 eventually arrived about 1830..it was a 156 on the front with a 150 at the rear. It was terminated at Preston and the 1830 LPL went from P3.

What p!ssed most of us off though was the lack of info/incorrect info. eg the 1800 Colne was showing as on time until 1755 when it was obvious to most of us it was stuck behind the failed train. (Literally stuck behind, as we saw later!)

Aye, the screens can be annoying, I arrived about 1750 and the Colne service obviously never materialised, it just became Expected ~1820 after 1800 then Cancelled thereafter that. The 1900 was displayed as 1924 as soon as it appeared on the screen though, which by and large was accurate. It's odd because it's been ages (well over two or three years) since I've seen first hand a failed train coupled up to a working one, and I've now seen two in two days! (The other was at Barnsley yesterday afternoon when a 144 died and was rescued by the proceeding 158: it became an express Leeds with the 158 powering.)

Hiya.

This week i aahave been mostly getting the 06.34 coach from Buckshaw to Chorley and getting the 07.00ish train into Manchester.

On the return home i've been getting the 17.00 from Vic to Chorley then the coach home.

To be honest, it's not that horrendous. there's plenty of people getting on at Chorley but because it's a 6 car rake, it's quiet. going though the stations to Bolton obviously gets progressively busier, but there seems to be fewer people standing after bolton than usual. Same for the reverse journey.

It's a bit of a pain when the train stops at each signal after Blackrod. I think they're being flagged through? fair enough.

A bit of a problem on Monday night at Vic when the blackburn train parked itself halfway up platform 5 (as it usually would). Except when the 6 car Chorley service came in behind it couldn't fit on the platform had a good coach and a half poking out the end. took about 10 minutes for a driver to shift the Blackburn service down the other end of the platform.

Could be worse it could be December and raining :)

laters!
Dave.

Are the Blackpool North to York services calling additionally at Layton and Kirkham & Wesham in lieu of the Blackpool North to Manchester Victoria stopping service?

Yes - the arrival/departure times at Blackpool North have been slightly altered accordingly.
