Chiltern has not recruited trainees for a very long time and there is an exceptionally high application from internals especially guards, they have been waiting 5 years for this opportunity so this is probably why there is a delay.

Thanks for that info. TDK, if Chiltern have five years worth of internals to consider then it is no wonder there are delays! Whilst I wish the internals all the best in there endeavours to become a trainee train driver hope there are spaces left for externals like me to have their application's considered.

Yeah they have included practice sheets, very helpful.
DRFT do you think it's only the tests what are indicated on the letter? As there is alot more in the booklet than just them. Just want to make sure I'm prepared

They only specified three tests for this assessment, very much like FGW, even though the material covers all the tests. I'm assuming that this is stage 1, the other tests will happen at a stage 2 for those that get through.

So do people recommend wearing a suit for assessment? Even though no actual interview. I have had no weddings or funerals recently so better go shopping

When I had my assessment it was conducted by a third party and there were no members of Chiltern staff on site. I still dressed in a smart shirt and trousers but I think the suit and haircut can wait until the interview process.

This was a long time ago mind (ownership of Chiltern has changed hands twice since I had my tests) so things are bound to be different, but unless I'm very much mistaken Chiltern still don't have the facilities to conduct the tests in house. I suspect you will be at London Bridge or somewhere within LOROL to do that stuff. And you can hire a suit by the way.

It's in Aylesbury at a Theatre so looks like you are right about not having their own facilities.

The 3 tests we got to do are:

Great Bourdon Test
Test of Everyday Attention (TEA- Occ)
Trainability for Rules & Procedure Test (TRP)

They are assessing internal candidates tomorrow and then externals should hear within a couple of weeks.

Had the assessment today and a couple of people didn't have the right ID and got told they will book them in for an assessment what's happening in a couple of weeks so keep your fingers crossed lufcman

Two were the same, the Group Bourdon and the TRP 1+2, the third was a new one, seemed okay but I won't comment any more until I know the outcome! As it was the start of the 'new' testing any previous attempts didn't count, so all needed to be done.

Good news for anyone who didn't get invited to the first set of assessments. There's at least one more session on Monday 28th October at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury.

I personally know of one who sat the stage 1 last week (currently awaiting the results), and they reckon most of the other candidates were external too - there were lots of Bus drivers apparently.
