I was one of those who was offered a job as depot driver only for them to retract the offer approximately one week before I was due to start. I was told there were 7 of us for the first intake, and due to the depot not being built into what it was supposed to be I ended up along with 3 others who never got a job. The issue I really had with this was that I was told instead of a may start it would be June, then it was august then October then November then January. On the 27th of December (merry xmas) I was finally informed that there was not going to be a position for me. I'm sure there were valid reasons for this but just bear this in mind as you all progress as it is painful

If you think that is bad, spare a thought for the internals who had done all the psychometrics, told they had a job ... then told the course was postponed until 2018 ... then told if they wanted to go onto the mainline course this year they'd have to retake the psychometrics to gain an enhanced pass ... unfortunately, Chiltern's HR department isn't it's strong point and thats from personal experience. The application form itself is also one of the worst I've used out there across all the TOC's.

Has anybody applied with enhanced passes from another TOC and not heard at all? I guess no news is good news! I'm going to contact Recruitment next month if I don't hear soon, though.
Have you been in contact with them Bill? Technically I'm in the same position as you as I haven't actually heard a single thing from them since I submitted my application. I called them myself to ask what was going on and they told me I had been put through to manager interviews and they would be in touch with info within a week, which was 2 weeks ago. But I haven't actually had any correspondence with them other than my phone call to them. Hopefully they will give us some sort of information before too long

Similar to Billoo, Sim, Ray and a few others on here, I've got a pass already with enhanced scores. Failed my 1st attempt and passed second time. I've also not officially had anything from them yet myself, I also called them and was told I'd be hearing about interviews in due course.

Probably fair enough to require enhanced passes, don't think HR were to blame just that the depot didn't turn out to be what was intended. Good luck to those involved as I am sure once you are in then it is a great job, just sharing my own experience and hope things turn out better. My only issue was that I was so close only to have the opportunity taken away.

Expected to hear back within 10 working days regarding the MMI. Everybody on my session passed the computer based tests.

Well done mate. How did you feel your MMI went? Hopefully you nailed it. It's the one thing I think we all worry about. Hope they were gentle and made you feel comfortable. I haven't had an interview in years so a tad nervous

Out of interest - which routes are covered by each Chiltern depot? Does Aylesbury sign up to Birmingham, etc?

EDIT: Are applicants using the recruitment number + e-mail on the Chiltern website to contact HR/Recruitment? I try both but do not get an answer from either.

I have no idea to be honest. I know the examples I used would be very good (coming from a policing background with experience of emergencies, problem solving, decision making, rules and regs etc) but it's just wether I've put them across well enough. I set myself a task of talking for 5 minutes on each question whilst hitting as much of the job description/MMI tick boxes as possible. They were very laid back and made you feel comfortable though so felt like a casual chat more than anything. All shall be revealed by the 13th April.

Can I ask what approach you took to 'problem solving' question? People wise or manual task etc?

Been offered a place on both GTR and Chiltern.

Any thoughts on what would be better ? Is training definitely at Aylesbury with Chiltern? You have to make your own way there everyday ? No putting you up in hotel ?

I have to admit I am thinking GTR - Closer Depots to home and more free travel options.

After also enduring the Banbury depot driver saga, I too am awaiting on hearing news for an interview. I know I must be shortlisted as they mistakenly invited me to test Stage 1 until I got that cleared up (sorry if covered earlier in the thread).

I'm hoping the lack of email is due to me being at the wrong end of the alphabet, suffered a life of that through school as well haha.

Good luck to everybody who has got through this far.

with the people yet to do stage 2, 28 having already past assesments, and this batch of round 2 successful candidates, it does seem like they are over interviewing for 10 jobs, which they have said they want 6 internal and 4 external.
Is it just me who think this?!

I suppose their thinking may be it gives them a pool to call on in future

There's potentially a lot more than 10, as someone said, talent pool time awaits.

Two years is along time, it's like a never ending wait with a job that might never start,
It was the same with the depot drivers job.
Just annoying and know how it feels.
