If you travel on the Chiltern network on the "free weekend travel" offer, what happens if they close the line and you can't get back on Chiltern?

Would the other TOCs accept a Chiltern only ticket?
Would they accept someone travelling on this offer with no ticket, only a stamped Oyster receipt?

The staff other than at Marylebone seem unfamiliar with the offer

In this case they should arrange alternative travel.

I'm not so sure on that...It's a special concession for Chiltern season ticket holders (and those purchasing a season ticket, from a Chiltern station, on Oyster that costs at least £150 a month or £1500 a year)

I suspect that you'd need to purchase another ticket and write to Chiltern Customer Services to reclaim it, given that you don't technically hold a valid ticket. YMMV. IANAL. And other such disclaimers.

Cheers,

Barry

Thinking about this the only reason they would close the line is for un-planned maintenance work i.e. if the Tesco Tunnel at GER were to collapse again(!)

I think it's the Sale of Goods Act that covers this, but am very willing to be corrected otherwise, that states the TOC must get you home at their expense.

We had a situation where staying in Llandudno many years ago and being unable to get back on a ferry from Douglas. We were re-routed via Liverpool, my Dad stood his ground and made sure BR (in those days) got us back home, which to their credit they did.

Staff at moor street told me i should take chiltern to oxford, and then fgw are accepting all chiltern tickets, therefore i should be fine on fgw from oxford to paddington showing just my receipt, leaflet and oyster card

What does ferret think about this?!

Take that advice and if anyone tries to charge you, do not hand over any cash and get a UPFN and contest it.
