Are the 168s still "Clubman Class" and a cut above a usual Standard interior? If so, it could be that they were worried that downgrading the service to Standard only might put some passengers off. Plus, keeping the Mk5As as is will be cheaper than refitting them, and will allow them to get the trains into service quicker.
Do you mean. "Turbostar class" ? As I understand it a 168 is a 170 with a different number and different paint. Did they do much to the ex TPE 170s ?

Clubman was the marketing specifically for the 168 units, differing from the Turbostar brand for the 170 units. The comparison bore more relation to the 165 units, which at the time were still in their original NSE design incorporating first class. The 168 fleet therefore (being the first of the new privatisation fleet) had more of a contemporary edge in terms of interior.

When the TPE 170's were transferred, they were at a time when the 168's had already been through one refurbishment and were thus similarly treated.

The electrical connection on the couplers is the most significant difference as I understand it, to allow them to communicate and work in multiple with Chiltern's 165s. The ex-TPE 170s were modified to achieve the same compatibility.

The second set has been misreported on gen groups, it was TP05 not TP04, confirmed by video with readable numbers.

What's the point in changing them?
LNER did change the Mk4 sets from BNxx to NLxx when they moved from Bounds Green to Neville Hill.

But I see no reason to change them, it doesn't impact them if they keep the same set numbers.

Are any of these sets/locos that have moved to Banbury and Eastleigh officially on lease with Chiltern yet? Pretty sure the locos are still showing in the MBDL which I think is the private owners pool (?)

68020 and set CH12 are on lease to Chiltern and are in the HOHQ pool, depot allocation 'EH'.

As the 168s predate the 170s, the Clubman branding also predates the Turbostar branding.

Wales (sometimes in England), thanks for replying!
Exactly. 168s/170s/171s can all be converted from/to each other, it's just coupler differences (168s/170s have different electrical wiring of the BSI couplers, while 171s have Dellner couplers).

Though Clubman preceded Turbostar in terms of the known name, Clubman continued to be used as an operator brand by Chiltern for the Class 168 Turbostars (like how the First Great Western 180s were Adelantes even though they were Coradia 1000s).

168s/170s/171s are all considered Turbostars. As for the different cabs of the 168/0s, I've heard two things. 1) The cab design wasn't finalised and 2) Chiltern wanted them to look more like the 165s, but then didn't bother with that from 168/1 onwards, ordering them with the standard "170" cabs.

Class 172's are Turbostars also and are compatible with 15X and 170's

The discussion arising from the "Clubman class" followed on from the first class provision in the mark 5 fleet, i.e., the standard interior as referred in the question from @steveinselby rather than the rabbit hole of discussing the technical compatibility of the 168/170/172 fleet.

The Clubman tickets used to provide a Clubman Breakfast. Not too bad if I remember rightly.

The Business Zone was a way of getting around company travel policies prohibiting First Class expense claims and atill providing a first class style environment and ticket price.

See also Standard Premier/Premium (Eurostar and Avanti). However most companies saw through that very quickly and specified the cheapest ticket or explicitly stated that only the lowest class of travel is permitted.
