IIRC (;)), they can't run over the LUL section as they don't have trip cocks?

Yep they don't have tripcocks. In the recent past, there were delays on the Chiltern Main Line, so Chiltern asked LU to allow diverted LHCS service over the Met but were refused due to it not having tripcocks and not being guaged.

Presumably it would be too expensive to fit tripcocks to a DVT/67? Do the 66s on LUL engineers workings have them? The gauging issue didn't occur to me; I suppose Mk3s have never needed to travel on LUL tracks?

Trains today are running down to Dicot. Then you have to change onto the FGW services. The locos would take too long to accelerate and the 168s will provide sufficient capacity. The loco haulage is also undergoing refurbishment. They have closed most of the line for improvement works before the 5th septhember when loco haulage comes into effect, and the line speed increased. You can then to London in under 90 mins and they are still calling at Dorridge once every hour still!:D Co incidence that London Midland are introducing the 172s on the same day. Passengers are going to be happy.

The 66s on LUL engineers are fitted with tripcocks (as are the 20s on S Stock deliveries), so it is feasible. I don't think Mk3s have been on the Met but Mk1s and Mk2s certainly have.
