Chiltern line RHTT 2012, Class 117?

Evening all,

I was wondering if the Chiltern Railways RHTT Class 117 will be in use this year as a reserve like last year? Or is it out of service now?

It is booked to do a daily trip over the Met which LUL are paying for. Aside from that it will be on standby in case there is a problem with the NR/DBS RHTT train.

I gather its not a popular train amongst you drivers, it had "heap o' s**t" written in the dirt on it when I saw it at Amersham on one of those £10 Chiltern rover tickets.

Not sure of the timings/scope of the working off the top of my head but will post it here when I've got the info.

The Green Goddess is popular enough but it does have a reputation for unreliability. It is rare to have all six engines working at the same time!

It's diagrammed to work the following trips between Aylesbury and Harrow-on-the-Hill:

3S72 13:41 Aylesbury–Harrow and 3S73 1445 Harrow–Aylesbury or,
3S74 15:11 Aylesbury–Harrow and 3S75 1615 Harrow–Aylesbury

That does not mean a driver wrote it? I can imagine an enthusiast writing that on a side of a 66

It was in a siding next to the station, I dont think any enthusiast with such a hate for 1st generation DMU's would go to such extreme lengths!

You beat me to it! I'll just add that either of those workings could spin at Amersham or Rickmansworth rather than run through to Harrow if so required.

Also, as well as providing emergency cover for the NR/DBS RHTT train in the case of a no-show, the Green Goddess can also be called upon to make an emergency run over the Met or Joint lines if exceptional railhead conditions require extra treatment, so it might just make it to Marylebone but if it does so the weather probably won't be very conducive to photography!
