Chiltern intercity timetable

I use the chiltern service between Marylebone and Birmingham/Stourbridge relatively often. Every time I use the service it seems as though the calling pattern is completely different. Just completed a journey which stopped at Gerrards X South Ruislip and Wembley Park… any clarification on the timetabling of this service?

It's very closely tweaked to provide the best service/use of capacity into London for the various commuter towns en route dependent on the time of day. It also has to be pathed on a 2 track railway with limited passing points as well which further limits the opportunity for very fast runs.

Though since COVID particularly the middle of the day & weekend trains do make quite a few additional intermediate calls to fill in for other trains that no longer run including London stations
