Chiltern disruption - 8th October

You might want to read the last few posts...

Train was met by fire and police at Gerrard's Cross. Passengers currently being told to wait on the platform for further announcements... I've told my friend just to get a taxi and claim/argue with Chiltern later. If anyone has better advice do say!

True, but that option would have meant keeping the line closed while the search continued. It's not unheard of for livestock to go back within the boundary fence and then reappear on the line, especially if the fence has been breached.

Which is obviously preferable to a train hitting a known missing cow. What was the plan here?! Hope the cow would have the sense to stay off the tracks and find its way back out?

Hopefully RAIB will be investigating this.

Train is proceeding to Gerrard's Cross with parts hanging off the underside

Yes, parts of cow from what I could see. To a casual glance the front of the train looked remarkably intact.

The driver was coming out of his cab as I came off (I was in the front carriage) and he was immediately approached by someone (who I took to be from Chiltern Railways) who was checking how he was. I was fortunate my wife could pick me up, most people seemed to be trying to sort lifts or taxis.
