Looks like they are now learning to route via Brum Intl. They were learning via Solihull last week. I saw the bubble at New Street this afternoon.

The Chiltern Railways Bubble car 960014, will be out route learning for Wrexham & Shropshire Drivers, tomorrow and Friday as 5Z51 0920 Tyseley to Tyseley, going over all lines in the west midlands between Oxley, Bushbury Junction and Coventry. 5 times through New Street during the day, if all goes to plan?

Sorry you missed the train at Coseley today :(, we did go through Coseley in the morning twice, at 0950 and again at 1055. Took the train to coventry and Leamington in the afternoon, did not have time for another trip to Wolverhampton.

After it went north through Coseley at 10:55 which way did it go back towards Brum? via Bescot?

Matt, yes you were right, we did go back via Bescot after the 1055 trip through coseley. The good news is the train 5Z51 0920 Tyseley to Tyseley is booked to run SX all next week. Booked to go to Oxley and Bushbury Junction in the morning then a trip to Leamington Spa via Coventry in the afternoon.

What a grand old lady. And obviously perfect for route learning activities. Curious to know, with it being Chiltern, what safety equipment is fitted to it? AWS? TPWS? ATP?

It is fitted with AWS, TPWS, OTMR data recorder which was fitted at the end of last year, was fitted with tripcock but this has been removed / isolated. Has an onboard generator 240v for heating and making tea. Has both CSR and NRN radios fitted, and still goes well after 50 years service. :p

Looking on Anoraksia, the passenger bubble (121 020) appears to be fitted with AWS and TPWS, but not Chiltern ATP.

Cheers,

Barry

Chiltern bubble car 960014, was out today route learning round the west midlands, with the Les Ross daytripper headboard on the front, made an interesting train going through new street. Did anybody get a photo of it on its journey? 8)
