Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but would Evergren 3 mean trains could possible do Wrexham to London in about 3 hours. would be great news for people needing to get up early for the 5.10am train, it could then depart at 5.30 or thereabouts, bearing in mind the 5.15 from chester doesnt cross its path, lol.

any ideas or does any1 know what the timings would be.

The 0510 takes 3 hours 47 to get to Marylebone in the current timetable. Where on earth are 47 minutes going to come from ?? HS2 isnt built yet !!
You might get 10-15 minutes gain at best with a good path.

The infrequent VT service does it in just under 3 hours.

I doubt you could knock an hour off the existing WSMR time even with Evergreen ?!

low line speeds, south of banbury i heard was the problem, but theres a signalling renewal happening to allow for greater speeds.

WSMRs dont exactly dawdle along until South of Princes Risborough where they are limited to 70. There is no way you are getting 45 minutes out of it.

I think the speeds will be 100 from Banbury to Wycombe probably the 50 through Wycombe will stay, then 100 from wycombe to ruislip then 80 to neasden, working it out it will hopefully knock 20 minutes off the times, this of course needs a clean run without catching up anything else, the 67's out accellerate the 168's by a country mile i suspect there will be a lot of train planning involved.

Current speeds are from Leamington, 90, short 75, 90, 75 through Banbury, 90, 65 through Aynho, 85 until Bicester where it is 25, then 100 until outside risborough where it drops to 90 then 60, then 70 to Wycombe, 50 through Wycombe, then 70 to S. Ruislip, 60 to neaseden, 40 through Neasden, then a short 60 then 50 until you reach the approaches to Marylebone.

The speed increases are above and also there will 90 from Shrewsbury to Oxley in places from December however this won't make a lot of difference because of the slot at Wolves and Stechford.

Aye, not everyone is motivated by speed alone. Many are time sensitive, but not all, although I would think the majority are interested in as a journey as possible.

Don't all rail services trundle along at near walking pace in the West Midlands?

Ok, a bit of an exaggeration - but on every approach to Birmingham it seems that there simply isn't enough track to accommodate all the services.

Whenever I have seen the WSMR services go through Birmingham International, they've always been going through at a decent speed, no quicker or slower than when the 0730 BHM-EUS runs through non stop
