Chiltern 50p fare offer

In last nights Standard there was an ad for the Chiltern offer. I can't find anything under the offers section on the Chiltern website and a Google search just brings up dead links to old 2012 offers. Any ideas?

EDIT: I note that PlusBus is not allowed with the offer now. I used PlusBus last time I took advantage of the offer. Makes it much less appealing for me.

Details are much the same as last time:

• 25p Singles on selected trains between Marylebone and Moor Street (and vice versa)
• Only available for Print at Home
• Not valid for break of journey
• Business Zone upgrades ARE available
• Register at http://www.chilternrailways.co.uk/standard50 to book

And whilst you can't book PlusBus with the offer, presumably because it's Print at Home instead of ToD, I'm fairly certain you'd still be able to buy a PlusBus separately.

The option was there but I didn't take it because there are (obviously) no railcard discounts. You can also get the tickets sent via First Class post for free too

edit: Sadly this offer is not available in the other direction so I shall have to come back another way and since there are no advance tickets at the time I want LM it is

Yes it does preclude you - starting/ending short is break of journey

Last time the PlusBus option was there but if you chose it there were no available delivery options.

You could book an unwanted 25p journey in the the other direction...

I have a question about Birmingham 50p promotion - is it possible to buy a ticket for a child? I wasn't able to do this online after redirection from promotion page.
Is it possible to buy a ticket as for an adult and a child will be traveling?

There is no further child discount. You need to book two tickets.

My intention wasn't to get another discount for a child from 25p

When buying two adult tickets in promotion, for me and my child, on both tickets I will have stated "adult" and the passenger names. Is it a problem? or it doesn't matter?

So I will buy a ticket for my child as an adult.
I thought maybe only adults are permitted to buy this tickets because they are so cheap. Maybe some exclusion for big families, or something? I'm too suspicious

There is nothing to suggest that children cannot travel on adult tickets with this promotion. The name is not an issue, as it will only have the name of the lead passenger on it, which in this case if you are travelling together with your child will be you.

Make sure that you bring the payment card with you as you need to print the tickets out at home and show the payment card if required when inspected.

I used this offer last year to take my two sons to Birmingham for the day. The youngest was then 10 and we had absolutely no problems.

I've been offered a Groupsave 4 ticket where a child gets counted as an adult, was successful just now for a London-Oxford journey for 3 adults and 1 child which were counted as 4 adults to become eligible for the Groupsave 4 discount. So in general I don't see an issue with children using an adult ticket, it is unlikely that a booking engine (in this case whatever Southern use) would offer invalid fares. However there is always the slight chance that this offer might be different

It might say "vice versa" on the website, but it doesn't allow you to buy a single or return starting in Birmingham, only from London.

I have a question about traveling with less people than tickets bought on one reservation.
My situation. I have bought tickets for four persons in this Chiltern promotion (on one reservation: parents, and two children). What if two persons couldn't go? So, two passengers will be missing from this reservation.
I know there is general rule, e.g. with GroupSave tickets: all persons from one reservation should travel together.
Is it the same with this 50p promotion?

There were no reserved seats on both journeys last Friday. On the outbound, our train was 8 carriages long and virtually empty only picking up passengers as we got closer to the West Midlands. On the inbound (20:18), our train was only 4 cars long and completely full up.

Free WiFi and charging sockets were a good bonus. Nice way to travel to the Midlands.
