Child Dependant Priv Ticket

Hi.I have non safeguarded staff privilege cards.I am aware that I get a 75% discount on walk up tickets.I also have 2 children over 16.They are still in education,therefore they still have their cards, which although they are now adults it still has child dependant printed on them.My son wants to travel from Glasgow to London Euston return.The booking office clerk quoted a £2 flat fare,however he wasn't sure if this was correct.I contacted Rail Staff Travel for confirmation.After double checking with her colleague the Rail Staff Travel member still couldn't confirm what the correct discount would be for a child 16+ dependant.Is the £2 flat fare for grandchildren with a retired grandparent only?
I was expecting the correct fare to be 75% of the adult fare,even though they are a child dependant,they are still officially a adult.I was disappointed that Rail Staff Travel couldn't help....Any advice guys? Thanks.

I would assume that if they had a card saying that they were a child, then they would get a Child Priv rate, which would be no more than £2. Bit odd though, I am not entirely sure as they are not children in the sense of the railways' definition of under 16!

Child Priv fare is 88% discount off the Adult rate, with a Maximum fare of £2.00 (Season tickets, Rangers and Rovers excepted).

If they are over 16, then they pay the Adult Priv rate, which is 75% discount. If it says "Child 16+" then this is just to imply that it has been issued to a child of an employee, rather than their husband/wife/partner/housekeeper/whatever.

The £2 flat fare referred to is specifically for grandchildren (aged 5-15) travelling with a retired member fo safeguarded staf, and does not require the children in question to hold any priv travel facilities of their own.

Ah okay! So it will say Child even though they are an Adult, simple (I've only ever sold one Child Priv ticket, and never seen the pass mentioned)

Yeah the pass says Child,even though they are a adult.If it just said dependant then it would be straight forward and easier to understand.I have spoken to a few people about it now,and almost everyone has a different interpretation.My son looks mature for his age.I would not be happy with him travelling on a child privilege £2 ticket to London.Even though that is what the clerk is prepared to charge him.75% discount on the adult fare does seem appropriate.Its just a pity there is no small print to clarify this.

When my son turned 16 I had to return card and received New one stating dependant, the old one was dated to expire on his birthday.
