Chesterfield platform assignment

I'm taking a trip from Nottingham to York, transferring in Chesterfield. I've looked at the station plan and saw it has a few platforms. Does anyone know if trains consistently use certain platforms, eg we'd plan on switching from 1 to 3 when getting off the train from Nottingham? Thanks

Most trains from Nottingham arrive in on platform one, with the trains then to York also leaving from platform one. If you’ve got time to kill, platform one is also where the entrance is, and there’s no barriers from memory.

Very few trains are scheduled to use platform 3 in either direction, unless they are taking the alternative route into Sheffield via Beighton, which normally only happens early morning and late evening so is unlikely to affect you.
Of course other trains can occasionally get switched (there was one yesterday) and one coming from Nottingham would be the least unlikely candidate.

All platforms are bidirectional, so in theory any platform can be used for any train. However, generally the booked platforms will be used, which would normally be platform 1 for both of your services (so a same platform change).

Chesterfield isn't a particularly large station - the platforms are long-ish but there's an underpass in the middle of them, linking the platform 2/3 island with platform 1 and the entrance. There aren't any ticket barriers to negotiate.

There are no barriers at Chesterfield Station and close to platform 1 is the ubiquitous Pumpkin Coffee Shop and a local independent bakery/coffee shop (which is much better) next to it!
