Easy question.

I am travelling to Birmingham Intl from Chesterfield on Saturday 24th for the Warley show. I will be travelling with two children on a Family Railcard.

What price should I expect to pay for a walk on fare?
Is it better to prebook?

Thanks in advance, Andy S

Do you want a day return, period return or just a single?

BB21, completely forgot about that bit. I will need a day return. My son and his mate want a full day out chasing trains so we might be cheeky/daft jumping on/off as necessary:- C/Field - Derby - Tamworth - BNS - Intl and then return straight through from BNS.

There won't be a through day return so you will have to split to take advantage of the lower rates.

A simple split at Derby brings it down from £33.90 to £10.65 (Chesterfield - Derby) and £16.65 (Derby - Birmingham International).

Prices are for 1 adult a 2 children with FAM.

No break of journey restriction on either tickets so you will be able to jump on/off as many times en route as you like.

I think splitting at Derby is the only thing you need. I can't see any other cheaper options.

I have also looked at Derbyshire Wayfarer which works out more expensive.

Thanks bb21.

So, if I understand correctly, I ask for:-
1 adult 2 chn day return C/Field - Derby then the same Derby - Intl.

Can I get all the tickets in C/Field?

Yes buy them all at Chesterfield. You should have no problems I always find the staff there very friendly and helpful. I regularly buy split tickets when I travel north from Chesterfield.
