A couple of queries on the offer detailed at http://www.merseyrail.org/tickets-p...n-tickets/chester-zoo-combination-ticket.aspx

It says "Please Note: Railcards or Group Travel Discounts are not applicable with this offer." I know you can't get a railcard discount on a Merseyrail Day Saver or on the bus and zoo part, but can you on a day return used in conjunction with this offer?

Is this a separate ticket like a Plusbus ticket that can be bought at the destination on production of rail tickets, or is it a through fare from origin to Chester Zoo that must be bought all together?

Tickets to Chester Zoo&bus are a separate bus/zoo ticket. Tickets to Chester Zoo (from within the Merseyrail area only) are on one ticket.

It's a separate fare and is issued like PlusBus. You can buy a ticket to Chester with a Railcard discount and then buy the Bus & Zoo part separately.

Merseyrail used to offer a flat fare from any of their stations. There also used to be a ticket to Chester Zoo from Bache.

Even though it is no longer vaild for travel by bus from Bache, posters onboard Merseyrail trains still stipulate that onward travel by bus to Zoo can be made from Chester or Bache stations.

Based on the information given on these posters, Quite a few people travelling to the Zoo still alight at Bache, even when the guard confirms they should travel to Chester.

Quite correct as I discovered today. I also discovered that as the Zoo Bus is also the Park & Ride bus, it doesn't run on Easter Sunday. <(

I remember last year I embarked at Mouldsworth to go to Chester Zoo and I'm certain I was given a railcard discount for a return between the two places.
