This is not a bad timing when compared to car travel. Shame it's only a single train service. Still , it's nice and early and gets you up on a Saturday morning.
Keep it quiet though, as you will be getting a dedicated support group for this service, as similar to the people in this area who support the famous Stockport to Stalybrige service.

What is the best ticke I should buy, Chester to Runcorn retuen? back via Crewe

Broad Green-Chester CDR Any Permitted would do at £4.60.
This is valid via:
Warrington
Runcorn
Birkenhead
(So you can start short and just do Chester-Runcorn, saving about £4).
If you then go get a Runcorn-Crewe that is £7, so total £11.60.
A Chester to Runcorn ticket is NOT VALID via Crewe.

The other option is to travel to Liverpool, picking up the service from London at Runcorn and going back via Birkenhead.
