Afternoon,

I'm thinking of going to Huddersfield on Saturday. I can drive to a station near Chester, as long as I can park - wondered what the cheapest way would be...? Splitting via Manchester?

So Chester to Huddersfield - ideally not using an Advance ticket. £30 seems a bit steep!

Many thanks,

James

If you don't mind using the slower Northern service for Chester-Manchester then splitting at Knutsford will bring it down to £24.30.

If there are two of you travelling together then you can get a Duo on the Knutsford-Chester part and make it £43.50 for two of you.

An Off-Peak Day Return Frodsham-Huddersfield is £17.20. You could combine this with a Chester-Frodsham Off Peak Day Return (£5.50), or you may find it easier to drive to Frodsham - not sure what parking is like there, but National Rail Enquiries suggests a small free car park.

Another option would be to split at Frodsham & get there by purchasing a Bache - Frodsham Off Peak Day Return at £6.60. OK, it's a little more expensive than the Chester - Frodsham ticket but parking is free at Bache.

This forum's always very helpful!

Frodsham to Huddersfield, looks a wise call - plus no car park charges.

Many thanks
