Does anyone know if you can use that exact ticket in the thread for buses or is it just trains? I've tried to do research and nothing seems helpful

Rail only as far as I am aware.

There isn't a combined bus and train ticket covering the whole area of validity. The GM Wayfarer will cover some of it but not all.

It’s rail only, yes.
Thought so. Would have been more helpful as I needed it for today really

The Greater Manchester Wayfarer at £16.90 is extremely good value if you're wanting to travel mostly in the northern and eastern area of Cheshire: https://tfgm.com/tickets-and-passes/wayfarer-adult

I can't think of any combined ticket that covers south and west of Macclesfield/Alderley Edge- whilst the GM Wayfarer lets you get to Warrington, Northwich, and Knutsford it won't let you get the bus between them.

Though not strictly permitted by the PlusBus T&Cs (which require the qualifying rail ticket to have a relevant interchange station as the origin or destination), I understand some people find they can in practice buy PlusBus tickets on the strength of holding a day ranger valid at one or more relevant interchange station(s).
