Just a reminder that this Saturday is the last day of the Chesham shuttle and scheduled 4-car A stock trains in passenger service. From the start of the new timetable, 8-car trains will run direct all day from central London.

I managed to make it down for the final day of the shuttle - unit 5090 was doing the honours, complete with head boards at either end.

Was there this afternoon with another forum member for the staff farewell where we were given special commemorative tickets, a talk by a historian about the shuttle and a chance to enter a raffle to win one of the headboards (the other will go up at Chesham station).

The times weren't kept a secret, but they were not publicly released by TfL or LU to everyone.

Of course you can't prevent passengers from travelling on a normal service train or being in Chesham station when normal trains are running.

If anything, it would be more of a farewell if a regular through link to/from central London was being axed, like the Northern Line Mill Hill East branch, rather than being introduced. Talking of which, I rode from Finchley Central to Mill Hill East in July and all the visual and verbal information pointed to the train heading for Finchley Central!
