The national rail site says "until further notice" but online booking with First Great Western for next Sunday offers only an off peak day return for £7.40 with rail card rather than the £4.90 Ranger.

If on line booking sites never offer rangers or rover tickets who knows what one is missing

You can try the National Rail website - that will offer Rovers and Rangers. I don't know much about this rover so you can try it yourself with a sample journey in the area

No mention of it being withdrawn on the manual. So I'd assume it's still available.

Some cases? Every case I've tried it hasn't worked at all!

But yes, it will tell you the prices, but you will usually have to buy them from a station!

Which I guess means I will have to buy at a station as I cannot see a way to buy on the FGW site.

The usually reliable GB Rail Rover Guide has no mention of it, and there is no record of it in Avantix either (at least not the NFM 09 version I have).

I *think* there's a poster (evidently not brand new, but not incredibly old, either) advertising it on Platform 1 at Oxford Station. If I remember I'll have a look tomorrow.

But...there is a catch. It's valid on FGW services only. There are no FGW services between Oxford and Banbury (with Tackley and Heyford stations being closed) on winter Sundays. The only trains between Oxford and Banbury on winter Sundays are run by Cross Country. Though I suppose you could still use it on FGW between Reading and Oxford.

Yes it does exist - at least it does now!

It is interesting that the area map includes Oxford - Islip - Bicester line as I thought that was now only a Chiltern service and the restriction on the ranger is FGW trains only.
