1 Adult, 1 Child with Family & Friends Rail Card.

Travelling from Cheltenham Spa to Skegness out on 18/02/11 (Any time so long as arrival is not too late)

Inwards on 21/02/11 (Any time)

Which is my best option for splitting tickets?

On a quick look you can save about £2 splitting at Nottingham on off peak returns

It might also be worth playing about by splitting at Birmingham (OPR), Peterborough (advance singles) then OPR again. Depends on the timing for those singles - you might save another £ or two if the cheapest times suit

If you're willing to use advances and be tied to one train then purchase:

Advance singles to and from Tamworth at £7.65 both ways, and then an Off Peak Return Tamworth to Skegness (Route NOT Birmingham) £28.40.

This costs a total of £36.05, saving over £20 on the off-peak return Cheltenham Spa > Skegness.

For the advance tickets you must take the booked train, or you'll have to pay a very high fare. A number of advances are available in the morning of the 18th on the trains which depart Cheltenham at :57 past the hour. With your off-peak return you can stay on your booked train to Nottingham, where you change for Skegness.

Coming back, you can use your ticket on any train out of Skegness after 9am, but you must ensure that your train out of Nottingham is the one that you've booked onto from Tamworth (although you could get an earlier train out of Notts and wate at Tamworth for your booked service).

OPRs (Super Off-Peak Returns) don't exist for these flows. The code for Off-Peak Returns are SVR.

Cheltenham - Birmingham Stations Off-Peak Return £17.95
Birmingham Stations - Derby Off-Peak Return £12.55
Derby - Skegness Off-Peak Return £22.30

Total: £52.80

All prices are for 1 adult and 1 child with a F&F RC.

My brothers dad is taking my little brother (who is 10) to Butlins in Skegness.... not my ideal choice for a holiday so glad its not me going lol
