There haven't been any mainline steam trips to Cheltenham this week.

The Cheltenham Race Specials run from Toddington to Cheltenham Race Course Station on the GWsR.

This week they are being hauled by : -

7903 Foremark Hall
35006 P&O Lines

Unlike BR Cheltenham Station, the Racecourse station is right next to the Grandstand & Paddocks and the GWsR takes you back to Toddington for your coach / your car parked for free in about 25 minutes. No waiting, no traffic, no jams with full at seat catering both ways :)

Cheers.

On Chris Evans' Breakfast show on wednesday, they interviewed the driver of one of the trains (alledgedly). There were supposed to be 3 in service!!

Two in service plus a thunderbird loco in case of problems was the information relayed by the driver.

35006 P&O Lines is a superb looking locomotive

Thanks for your compliment, it's been a long road from rusting in peace at Barry to getting it in the shape it is now in (I only played a very minor part). The correct name for any pedants is however : Peninsular & Oriental SN Co. The SN stands for steam navigation.

35006 will be putting in an appearance at the Mid-Hants Gala in July, the first time it has gone on the road since returning to steam at Toddington last year.
