because last weekend 24/7/10 it was voyager

'Gen' is often posted to the hstgen website.
The only booked HST to Paignton is:
1V47 07:58, Manchester P - Paignton (13:20)
This is booked HST on Saturdays until 04/09/10.
There are no booked HSTs on weekdays to Paignton on the list I've seen.

I can imagine on the 7 september the 10:26 to Paignton will probably be formed of a Voyager because it's the end of the summer holidays, and fewer day trippers will go to Paignton.

Anyway, if you want to go, an AP single if you book now if £17.50

I wouldn't get an AP single, unless you don't want to return, for anything less than £10 each way, given that walk-on returns are available (as listed above) for £29.50, which is £14.75 each way. £17.50 for a single is, therefore, poor value.

if you wanted to travel on hst weekdays how about fgw hst from bristol temple meads to paignton?? and XC Return HST?

I wouldn't buy Advance unless there is a significant saving, or unless they are the only trains you can get (e.g. if doing a trip to somewhere like Inverness!).

If walk-on tickets cost £30, I wouldn't pay £25 for Advance. I may not even pay £20 because of the risks involved. If it was £15 or less, then I'd go for Advance.

I generally get the discount on Advance tickets at less than half the price of walk-on travel. If it's much more than this, then I would think very seriously about the options before booking.

Advance tickets that only cost a couple of quid less than walk-on tickets are little more than a money making scam in my opinion, as they're probably hoping you'll trip up and end up paying more than if you had paid on the day!
