Chelmsford Bridge Strike - Delay Minutes?

Hi all,

A bus has struck the railway bridge at Chelmsford and my main interest being buses I have a couple of questions that hopefully someone will be able to answer....

1) I understand roughly about how delay minutes work, But who would pay it in this case; Bus Company or Network Rail?

2) Is it possible to see how many minutes the incident caused? Or is it only available on TOPS (Is that right? Apologies for my ignorance - Please be kind!)

Network rail will pay initially but claim it back from the bus companies insurer at a later date.

As to the delay minutes, a bit of maths would be required, and a lot of sifting through somewhere like Realtime Trains.

In this specific incident there were relatively few delays.

Do they claim the actual delay minutes figure from the insurers? I can see the insurance company rejecting it on the basis that they are arbitrary made up figures, although obviously it is written into the NR/TOCs contract. I might have to make a delay minutes contract with my wife so that if I have to claim off anyone's car insurance I can claim for my losses under it

Not sure how you can claim made up figures as they are based upon the time lost in the schedules as reported by TRUST.
