As the title says, after my travel on a GWR IET from Oxford to Hereford in first class, I would like to try CrossCountry's First Class on the Class 220/221 Voyager trains.

My question is, do CrossCountry offer any cheap first class advance single deals? Ideally from Oxford to Coventry or Birmingham as that's the line I'm currently living on.

BR Fares show an Oxford -> Coventry 1st class advance (route "XC only") as being potentially as cheap as £22.60, but whether there is any availability or quota at that price on any given date is an entirely different matter.

BR Fares suggests an even cheaper first class advance single in the opposite direction!

EDIT: Turns out you didn't apply the 16-25 Railcard discount, and I always buy discounted tickets as I currently own a 16-25 Railcard

On weekdays only, you can easily get a £5 Seatfrog upgrade for a journey of any length (not Turbostars)

Unlike LNER and Avanti (though Avanti have shamefully discontinued Seatfrog on 98% of services), bidding on XC is not very competitive. It won’t be hard to win.

Presume you'll need to have booked to travel second class with XC already, and of course, you're not always guaranteed to be successful in the 'auction' so you may end up having to travel second class!

P.S. Can you "seat frog" upgrade with just a Standard Advance?
