I am amazed that they even allow you to purchase a ticket from Victoria coach station to Victoria railway station. It is a three minute walk. That really is a bonkers ticket. But yes i think you have probably found the cheapest one. I have searched a few other very short journeys and found nothing quite as cheap.
If you purchase from the coach driver then there are a couple slightly cheaper fares on the network (£2.40 Single or £3.60 Return) as there is no booking fee to buy from the driver.
Buying a £1.20 fare online and paying a £1.50 booking fee is extortionate. The booking fee is more than the ticket. I doubt anyone has bought that ticket.
You do not need to pay the booking fee if you create an account on the NX website.
I've previously seen various tickets involving Baker Street suggested when people have been trying to buy low value tickets to trigger the NX Rewards monthly bonus

The other thing I wonder about this particular journey - presumably on a busy NX service from London, if I actually booked this journey, it would effectively prevent one more passenger booked London Victoria coach station (which is,, made prominent on the NX booking engine when searching for stops) to wherever they're actually going. I suppose it's not a massive issue given nobody is going to be booking such journeys, but if it happened en masse it could cause an issue.

Although some people prebook that journey I think I can count on the fingers of one hand the number that have come with one whenever Ive been driving. I'm surprised VCS to Victoria Railway Station is offered as a fare though

Best thing is, I got £6.57 cashback for this ticket.

Some drivers may have a mental note in their head linking passengers to their tickets but they're probably not thinking too much about it, I suppose another issue is someone then books a seat later on in the journey to find someone still sat in it!
I'm sure they must have some inspectors roaming around the network but someone could probably still get pretty far on the motorway before being clocked!

I once had two people travelling together trying to board with the same ticket for one person, I made sure they bought another ticket. What we do get quite a lot is passengers turning up with a child that they haven't booked on, kind of understandable if it's an infant. I'm unsure if they have inspectors or not, in over 4 years on the network I've never had one get on the coach

While sadly not £1.20, there are quite a few short hops available on the 170/171 for local stops in Manchester and Liverpool going for £1.30. If you really want to get some bang for your buck though, probably one of the best value fares is London Stratford to London Liverpool Street Station. Only had 3 trips per day in the middle of the night but it's a 25 minute journey, all for £1.30
It almost makes the Finchley Road Station to Finchley Road & Frognal Station £2 ticket look like a bit of a rip off.

The reason I was looking for the cheapest NX fare is because if you make an NX online purchase each month, you don't pay the £18/month.
I'm doing a lot of DIY and home improvements at the moment and the discounts (20% off IKEA, Screwfix, etc) is well worth £1.20/month ticket from Victoria Coach Station to Victoria Railway Station.

Services calling in at airports, Heathrow for example. Tickets are more expensive to Heathrow than London Victoria. Nothing actually stopping you getting off if you don't have luggage.

I'm not James, but as I have a National Express account I can explain.
You go to https://www.nationalexpress.com/en then at the top right hand corner there is My Account with a picture resembing a human just to the left of it. You click on that, then near the top you have a choice between Existing customer and New customer. You therefore click on New customer. You can then sign up via Facebook, Google, Apple or your own email.
As @317 forever says, just make sure you are logged in to NationalExpress.com after clicking through from NXRewards
@styles - depending on when you joined NXRewards, you may not need to use National Express as the merchant for your monthly bonus transaction. I am aware there are different Ts and Cs, but many/most can use any merchant in the scheme - on Reddit many people have bought a sub-£1 sim card on Ebay to satisfy the requirements for the bonus
