Cheapest London to Newcastle Fare Help!

Hi

I need to make a trip on Sunday 24th February from London to Newcastle one way, does anyone have any ideas on ticket splits to get the price down?! Flexible on times and even changing trains if needs be.

Any help will be much appreciated!

I've found £45.10 by booking on the eastcoast website (to take advantage of their online specials) and splitting at York.

Dep Kings Cross 0915 - Arr York 1132 £29.90
Dep York 1234 - Arr Newcastle 1342 £15.20

You could always go Grand Central to Sunderland and Metro/Northern from Sunderland to Newcastle. Bit of a longer journey but added benefit of having extra flexibility and buying on board with GC.
