Cheapest fare - York - Long Preston

Please can anyone tell me the cheapest fare from York - Long Preston travelling out on 24th April after 17.00 and returning on 26th April after 14.00 for 2 adults and 2 children with a family railcard. Thanks.

Please can anyone tell me the cheapest fare from York - Long Preston travelling out on 24th April after 17.00 and returning on 26th April after 14.00 for 2 adults and 2 children with a family railcard. Thanks.

There are no Advance Purchase tickets on this route making it pretty difficult to lower the price.

Your best bet is going to be just the Anytime Return for 2 adults and 2 children making a total of £66.00. This allows you to return from Long Preston anytime within a month of the outward date of travel printed on the ticket.

There is no point splitting on this journey as it does not lower the price due to the fact you are returning on a different day and there are no AP tickets available (not even on the York-Leeds section as it is too short notice).

Glynn, you have missed the family railcard part, which meats the open return comes down to £37.40 for the whole party.
I also can't see any way to split the fare down, having looked at major stations and the PTE boundaries.
