£37.50 is the price of 1 adult and 1 child returns.

If you do a lot of journeys, consider a Family & Friends Railcard. That reduces the price to £21.25 for this journey, and all you need is to do a journey like this twice a year and you are saving money. Also if you travel on Virgin Trains (e.g. Wolves to London) you can use 'peak' time trains on off peak tickets, for example Wolves to Manchester at peak time is £220.50 for 1 adult and 1 child without a Railcard, but only £36.85 with a Railcard.

Also the ticket can be reduced in cost by splitting the journey into a combination of tickets.

If your trains call at Stoke:

Wolverhampton-Stoke Off Peak Day Return £16.65 (1 adult + 1 child, no railcard)
Stoke - Manchester Off Peak Day Return £17.70 (1 adult + 1 child, no railcard)
Total = £34.35

Further or alternative splits may be cheaper.

If your daughter is under 16 then get a family railcard and that'll bring the price down to £21 although you will have to buy the railcard. Depends if you wish to do more rail travel with your daughter?

You can also save a bit extra if you changed onto a Virgin Trains service at Stoke-On-Trent and got a Stoke - Manchester "Virgin Trains Only" Off Peak Day Return ticket, which would be £13.35 for 1 Adult and 1 Child.

Thus bringing the total down to £30.

Virgin Trains operate 2 Services an hour between Stoke-Manchester at xx48 and xx25.

If you get the xx49 CrossCountry service off Wolverhampton, this arrives into Stoke at around xx19 ,giving you a 6 Minute Connection off the same platform onto the xx25 Virgin Trains Service.

Coming back if you get the xx15 from Manchester Piccadilly which gets into Stoke at (xx48 ) you have a 16 Minute wait til the xx07 Stoke to Wolverhampton arrives.
