Hi,

My wife and I want to leave Radlett station (Herts) around mid-day one day (Friday) to London Zone 1, returning the following day (Saturday) in the evening to Radlett. Whilst in London we want to be able to travel around central London by Tube (and possibly Bus and DLR).

What is the best/cheapest way to do this? We normally buy Travelcards for daily trips to London, but as far as I can tell there is no equivalent for 2 day trips.

We don't currently have Oyster cards but would consider obtaining them if this would prove the best option. Radlett is NOT on the oyster network but the next station down the line (Borehamwood) is on the network.

My wife and I are both over 60 (but not yet 65) if this makes any difference.

Graham.

An Off Peak Travelcard on the Friday and a Super Off Peak Travelcard for the Saturday each would be the cheapest option. I'd recommend each of you invest in a Senior Railcard in order to save a third on the fare.

There is an Overnighter ticket which is valid for two days, but you need to depart after 2pm on Day 1 and return before 1200 on Day 2.

Other than that you are stuck with singles or Day Travelcards I'm afraid.

Thanks RJ,

Would this be better value than departing and returning from Borehamwood and using Oyster?

If you are able to get to Elstree & Borehamwood station and go from there, it will be cheaper as you will be inside the zones.

If you have not loaded your Railcard discount entitlement onto your Oyster PAYG card then you will be charged the full adult fare. If you have the Railcard on Oyster then you will be charged the reduced off-peak fare and the discounted cap.
