Cheap tickets/travel

Hi,

I'm looking for advice on how to get cheap tickets/travel on all forms of public transport.
Reason being - I host a show on my uni radio station and on Wednesday I'm recording a show with a few other students about how to "Travel on the Cheap".

Now I know about train ticket splitting, booking in advance, railcards, and off-peak rather than on-peak travel, but was wondering if anyone could offer ideas on how else to get cheap travel so that the show is informative and helpful to others.

Megabus does train tickets for quite cheap on Virgin, SWT and EMT services - unless you've already covered that with Advances!

Have you considered joining us at a fares workshop? Complimentary non-alcoholic drinks are now provided, if that can tempt you!

Problem is, the stuff you say is all you can really tell people publicly.

It's unwise to go on about routeing guide anomalies, as even reasonable routes can get abolished by Rail Settlement Plan at the drop of a hat. They are avid readers of this forum, as are the best pricing managers.

Now they're tempting Gives me a chance to tick off some more stations on my challenge!

Thanks for the advice about fair routing, I'll keep that in mind when I do the interview - don't want to ruin things for people in an attempt to be helpful.
