Hello all, this half term I shall be looking to do a few of these ^^, any ideas of ones which are particularly reasonably priced would be appreciated. Thanks :) (I am also a railcard holder, if this helps)

What kind of things were you thinking?
Nice cities, nice countryside, the sea?
How much is reasonably priced for you?
What kind of railcard?

Anyway, here are some ideas:
A nice cathedral city; Hereford, Worcester, Salisbury, Winchester can all be done for a reasonable price.
Perhaps some nice countryside; then the Cotswalds, Herefordshire, and the Thames (e.g. Pangbourne), or the Chilterns (probably best done by bus)
Or a big city; Birmingham, London (by coach)

A three day Thames Rover works out at less than £10 a day with a railcard, the 7 day one is something like £8/day.

Heart of England 3 in 7 Rover covers a big area for about £18 a day - only North from Oxford though. The 7 day version works out at less than £10 as well.

Maybe get one of each of the 3 day ones to give max destinations.

The landslip between Leamington and Banbury may cause problems heading North though. They're saying it may take "weeks" to sort out.

Just over £15 return to Bristol from Oxford. Can also stop off at Bath on the way. Both very nice cities - Bath is smaller and more beautiful, but Bristol is bigger and, in my opinion, more interesting.

A Cheap Day Return to Windsor & Eton Central from Oxford or Didcot is just over a tenner with a railcard. You'll need to change at Slough for the branch line train.

Pleasant town with some attractive architecture, riverside walks, the castle of course, lots of eateries.

The railway just has a single platform in Central station now, which is perfectly adequate for the two car Turbo shuttling back and forward, but the rest of the canopies and buildings of the station are all still there, and have been really well restored and converted in to shops and restaurants. You can even have tea & cake in the old booking office.

Great view of the river and castle as you arrive in Windsor: sit on the left of the train in the direction of travel.
