Cheap coaches?

I have a lima class 47 in network southeast and a bachmann class141 irish diesel in CIE livery. I would like to own some coachs for them to pull. Does anyone know where to get cheap network southeast carriages and cheap murphy models mk2 carriages? Thanks in advance.

Hi there. I would suggest trying a look on Ebay, you can get job lots of coaches and all sorts in reasonable condition for good prices. Also if you know of any local toy or collectors fairs, you can usually walk away from there with some nice stuff at good prices. Personally i walked away from a toy fair with a Lima Deltic and had change for a fiver.

Not cheap, but if your after that one NSE coach to make up your rake, then Gee Dee Models of Nottingham have a large range online. They tend to have much more in the shop but if you can't get there then you have to go with what's online. They tend to be very quick at replying to e-mails and are generally very helpful on the phone.

If your painting skills are reasonable why not talk to spares dealers like East Kent Models and see if they have some bits to make some coaches up. I did a while ago although I need some couplings for them (and the painting ain't great).

Not mkIIs but this place does CIÉ/IÉ Cravens for €39.99, ten euro cheaper than most other Irish shops.

Also, not coaches but Marks Models in Dublin do several Dapol four wheel wagons in CIÉ livery which would have run with the 141s in their black CIÉ livery, the "broken wheel" ones could have run with CIÉ black/orange 141s as well.

As cravensrule says it's rare to find authentic Irish carriage models cheap, even the earlier Lima (1990s) ones have a high collector value.

That said, there are some places that will respray Hornby mkII or mkIIIs for you, don't know what the cost is though.
